The report received attention due to the fact that franchise mode is a major issue with some Madden players. Indeed, the promised roadmap was initially a response to the campaign #fixmaddenfranchise that was circulating on Twitter around mid-2020. The campaign was triggered by reports that EA wasn't planning improvements to franchise mode in the year prior.

Since the time, EA has released new commissioner tools, as well as other improvements which include a complete overhaul of the scouting system. Madden 22 also came with an enhanced scenario engine, cutscenes in season and coaching skills trees. However, players continue to point to various areas where franchise mode may be better compared to other franchises, ranging due to the lack of personalization to the myriad bugs.

While EA Sports wouldn't provide any more details, the additional enhancements are planned for some point next year. These changes could include franchise relocation improvements promised in the initial roadmap of Madden 22. Expect more details in 2022.
