It's this time of year once again where we're waiting eagerly for the reveal of who will appear on the cover of this year's version of Madden NFL 22. EA Sports announced this week that the cover of this coming season will be revealed on the 17th of June on a Thursday and they've provided a short teaser that leaves a couple of clues to guess who might be on the cover. The teaser featured two goats -- one notably older than the other- causing a ruckus within a barn. Then, they emerged to reveal the date of the announcement for the cover.

While we only have just a few days until we know who will be featured on the cover this year and we've decided to take it upon ourselves to roll through a few candidates who might be eligible to be worthy of this distinction. Below are our top three choices for an athlete who will be a cover model as well as our top options if EA Sports chooses to cover a pair of players, as the teaser suggests.

The Madden NFL's four most recent cover athletes were quarterbacks. It makes sense that our top pick would be someone who can line up underneath the center. Following a season in 2020 which he was an MVP quarterback, Bills quarterback Josh Allen is an ideal candidate for the next chapter of the videogame franchise. While it remains unknown whether or not he'll appear on this year's cover, Henry is certainly deserving of the honor. In some instances, the large-bodied running back appears like something from video games when the defenders he takes often on a regular basis. Henry has led the NFL in rushing for consecutive seasons and has beaten all skill position players in 2020, with the longest number of years from the scrimmage (2,141). If an entire season in which you average 126.7 yards of rushing per game can't land you the cover of Madden NFL, I'm not sure what will.

While some may be offended by the notion of a defensive player making his way onto the Madden NFL cover, it isn't at all unusual.
