Asliken has been shown to regulate gene expression of components of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), including renin, angiotensin-converting enzyme, angiotensin II, and angiotensin II type 1 receptors. 14,15 RAS plays an important role in regulating blood pressure and heart remodeling.

With the discovery of the chymotrypsin pathway, an Ace-like enzyme, it has been shown to be a much more complex system than initially thought. Given the effect of Asligan on ACE and other RAS-related activities, we speculate that Qili Qiangxin (Qiliqiangxin ingredients) may influence cardiac chymotrypsin activity and thus have a beneficial effect on hypertension. However, it is unclear whether Qili Qiangxin improves cardiac dysfunction caused by chronic hypertension and whether this protective effect depends on the local chymotrypsin Ang II pathway.

The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of fine powder oral Qili Qiangxin affecting the expression and role of chymotrypsin in hypertension-induced heart failure in an in vivo hypertensive rat model.

Animal and tissue processing.

Eight-week-old male SHRS were randomly assigned to three treatment groups: SHR control group (SHR-C; n=7), in which SHR was treated with a carrier (distilled water) alone (1ml/kg/ day); SHR high-dose Qili Qiangxin group (SHR-H; n=7), where SHR was treated with 4g/kg/ day Qili Qiangxin; And SHR low-dose group (SHR-L; n=7), where SHR is treated with a low dose of Qili Qiangxin (1g/kg/ day). Seven untreated 8-week-old Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats were used as normal controls.

The fresh suspension of Qili Qiangxin in the car is prepared daily in a dark room. These herbs were identified and standardized according to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005). In order to reduce the dose variability of Qili Qiangxin ultrafine powder from batch to batch, the varieties, origin, harvest time, medicinal ingredients and processing methods of each ingredient were strictly regulated.
