To find the reasons for this, we need to look back to the very origins of Runescape

Okay, I didn't cry. However, I was very angry. I was convinced that the 138 combat calculation was going to win, and I have been proven right. As of OSRS Gold this morning, February 15th, EST, the 71% to 29% victory percentage for the calculation of 138 combat stands. The most troubling part is that it's winning for all the incorrect reasons. The reason is that the present method is better than the old one in every aspect.

To find the reasons for this, we need to look back to the very origins of Runescape. Runescape started out as a completely different game from what it is now. Mixture of 2d/3d graphics, slower movement speed, and an entirely modern combat system. Today's players consider Runescape Classic as a three-hit combat system. This means that you have to take three strikes on your opponent before you are able to withdraw. This differs from Runescape 2 or 3 where you can simply run away at any time you'd like. But, combat is not three hits of combat.

Melee was the predominant type of combat used in the first video game. Since ranged and magic were not well-developed it was the main form of combat. Ranged was completely underdeveloped. It had limited range armor, and was not used much in PvP. Similar issues were present in the realm of magic. If a magician was unable to cast a magic spell had to wait for 20 minutes before they could attempt again.

Magic was also difficult to Buy RS Gold train; the lack of Runecrafting ability made the runes costly. Although magic gained more credibility with the release of the god spells, it was primarily a complement to melee. Runescape Classic Attack was preferred over Strength in combat calculations, and not Ranged and Magic.
