Stages of Creating a Presentation

Unfortunately, good and promising students at this stage are often cut off only because the defense was poorly organized. The reason is not even that the student is poorly prepared, does not know the text of the course work has prepared a not very good report for it, but that the information was chosen and framed incorrectly.

It is rather difficult to select only the most important from the work on several dozen pages, and to present the information in such a way that the listeners understand the essence of the research, conclusions and proposals.

Electronic presentation design consists of the following steps:

  • Defining goals - what the material was prepared for;
  • Designation of an idea - what will be discussed in the report;
  • Choosing a suitable template;
  • Collecting information in tables;
  • Creation of the structure of the speech;
  • Final check of the correct sequence of material delivery and the consistency of visual support.

After finishing writing the presentation, you need to check the semantic and logical connection between the visualization and the oral presentation. It is recommended that you rehearse your performance with paper help before the defense to be sure it is an extra point.

Requirements for creating a presentation

Presentations are designed in PowerPoint. There are many ready-made templates in it, and it is easy to choose the one that suits you in terms of configuration, color combination and style. Since the interface is simple and intuitive, it will be easy to understand the program. The main work on the design falls on the writing of the content part. The optimal amount of demonstration is 12-15 slides, and the presentation of the necessary information should take no more than 5-7 minutes.

The slides show the following information:

  • Title page - university, name of the student, topic, year of defense;
  • Goals, relevance, object, objectives of the study;
  • Methodological base of research;
  • The main theses of the theoretical and practical part - definitions, quotes, facts, graphs, tables;
  • Conclusions - the last slide with the results of the research work carried out.

There are clear requirements for coursework presentation slides prepare like, for example:

  • The optimal volume is 12-15 slides;
  • The presence of a heading in 28-32 font;
  • The maximum number of words on a slide is 40, font 18-24;
  • Abstract presentation of information, preferably in tables, graphs, diagrams;
  • The information on the slides and the data presented in the report should not be duplicated, but only complement each other;
  • Since defense takes little time, everything should be concise;
  • The style and design of all slides is the same, contain no more than 3 active colors, you can use animation.
