The NBA 2K community is clamoring for more information on the upcoming game, and it's a safe bet that we'll be getting it in the next three weeks. Perhaps the first salvo of August arrived on Wednesday morning.

The Seasons Concept in NBA 2K22 will be incorporated into the soundtrack of the game.
Earlier this week, 2K revealed their plans for the NBA 2K22 soundtrack, stating that they will take a "new approach."This year, the NBA 2K22 new soundtrack will be a part of the Seasons concept, which will be present in MyCareer, The Neighborhood, and MyTeam. In the case of the game's release cycle, it allows for consistent content drops, which, in the case of the soundtrack, means that more new music will be released after the game's launch on September 10.

Initially, NBA 2K22 will feature music from artists such as Aitch, Freddie Gibbs, Gunna, Megan Thee Stallion, Metro Boomin, Saweetie, Skepta, Smino, Travis Scott, and others. Eventually, the game will feature music from more artists.

Blending the worlds of 2K and music culture
For more than a decade, the 2K brand has been associated with a variety of musical genres. Hip-hop, RB, alternative, and rock songs that have become popular over time have been included in the game.

In the words of Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing for NBA 2K, "basketball and music are so intertwined and have become an integral part of our game."“NBA 2K has established itself as a global platform for music discovery, and this trend will continue with 2K22 MT."This year, we are creating a dynamic soundtrack, complete with early access to previously unreleased tracks, new artists, and opportunities for fans to become a part of the experience and solidify their place in video game history.”

First Fridays Should Provide a New Point of View
Following the release of the game, “First Fridays” will become a regular occurrence in the 2K universe. New songs will be added to the game's soundtrack on the first Friday of each new Season. A mix of well-known and up-and-coming artists will be featured in the updates.

The final version of the rollout will be available in August.
“We've worked hard to establish NBA 2K as one of the industry's premier video game soundtracks,” said David Kelley, Senior Manager, Partnerships Licensing at 2K Sports.“This year, the opportunity to evolve the experience for players by creating moments where we can debut and share incredible new music is another step toward how we are bringing together the real-world of basketball culture with our game through music, not only through well-known artists, but also by providing our players with an opportunity to get in the game and showcase their own talents.”

The Producer series is a new layer of music that has been added to the 2K soundtrack. This initiative incorporates a Beats Pack into the game, which will allow 2K users to record bars over beats in order to showcase their own music.

I'm reminded of the highly underappreciated MTV Music Generator game that was available on the original PlayStation and other consoles.

The level of complexity you can add to the tracks you create will surprise you if it works in the same way. The ability to incorporate lyrics into the music elevates it to an entirely new level. More information will be provided closer to the launch date, but that sounds very exciting.
