How to Get Sugar Lumps in Cookie Clicker

When you've baked a total of one billion cookies in Cookie Clicker, you'll unlock the ability to use Sugar Lumps as a form of currency.

These hunks can be used to boost the efficiency of cookie-generating constructions, gain access to secret areas, or activate spell effects in the late game. Although sugar lump manufacturing is slow, it's easy to increase your lump count.

Fruitful Sugar Balls

After you've collected a billion cookies, a tiny white circle will emerge on your screen, resembling a seed, just below the Stats button. Your sugar lumps will continue to grow from this "plant." The results of harvesting these lumps will depend on how ripe they are.

If you click on a ripe Sugar Lump, you can harvest it, but there's only a 50% chance you'll get a lump. If the game isn't saved after harvesting, you can try again with an unsuccessful harvest as many times as you like by refreshing the browser tab containing Cookie Clicker. On the other hand, a ripe lump always successfully gathers itself at the bottom of the screen.

There are five distinct varieties of sugar lumps, each with its own distinctive effect, value, and visual characteristics. For example, harvesting a Normal Sugar Lump will result in one lump, harvesting a Bifurcated Sugar Lump will result in two lumps, harvesting a Caramelized Sugar Lump will result in three lumps, and harvesting a Golden Sugar Lump will result in anywhere from two to seven lumps and double your current number of cookies. Other than the Meaty Sugar Lump, which can only arise during the Grandmapocalypse, the possibility that any of the remaining four lumps will spawn is determined by chance alone.

These growths don't appear overnight, to put it mildly. A Sugar Lump takes around 20 real-world hours to mature, or about 43 hours to ripen from a freshly "seeded" Sugar Lump. This increase will persist all day even after the game has ended.
