According to the official announcement from Steamforged the players are expected to "craft and upgrade equipment, upskill their characters, cook special recipes RS Gold Buy, engage with NPCs and test their skills while exploring different areas of the globe". Like the MMO, players will come across side-quests to flesh out the game's world.

In addition, the TTRPG will be comprised of the most beautiful and illustrated core book with all the details needed by players to run a RuneScape TTRPG. Players can build their own characters and set off into the lands of Gielinor for "unique and exciting quests". Furthermore the TTRPG base book will be "fully compliant with rules of fifth edition of the world's most loved role playing tabletop game".

This new venture will be the first time that RuneScape will be available without a digital platform, something that Jagex Director of Operations Phil Mansell is excited about:
